Trust Poem by Austin Jones

Trust

Rating: 5.0

You said
you trusted me
unconditionally
and yet that same night
you turned around
and told me
that you only trust me
'to an extent?
that you are 'cautious'
even through four years
of talking
of listening
of me helping you
through pain
when we first
began
you said you loved
me
was that just a
ploy
a trick to keep
me as a toy
a yo-yo
called back when you
needed help
LET ME IN AGAIN
I am not
mentally
physically
psychologically
capable
of harming you
for I take upon
myself
what pains you endure
feeling with you
I want to be there
for you
LET ME IN
at your feet I beg
at your feet I cry
do the lines
scar-wrought
not prove you can trust
me
how can four years
not earn more
never lying
never a betrayal
never hurting you
always there
always listening
always helping
for
all I am trying
to do
is be with you
I still love
You
My heart still yearning
for just a chance
the one you promised me
before the rest
and I was always there
to help you up
when the next you chose
over me
cast you down
hurt you
I have been trusted
never failing
but now
You won't let me in
please
I beg
I cry
LET ME IN
for I care
for you
I want to help
you don't have to be
alone
for I am here
to listen
to talk
to hear
to help
trust me
I love you
I cannot harm
I would rather die
You are so beautiful
If not to you
then to me
Inside and out
Trust me
I have never lied
never hurt
Trust me
LET ME IN AGAIN

What a heart wrenching and delicate emotional poem this is! It touched my mind with it's sadness and seeming hopelessness of the situation. Very intense and tender poem, smooth and even rhythm, perfect rhyming. Thank you for sharing. RoseAnn

Trust is a two way street. Love is a broad, one way avenue. Both are traveled in this poem
