Trust Is Earned Poem by Jim Boone

Trust Is Earned

Over time and time is a
Breeding ground for
‘Who do you trust’ or
‘Who do you protect’
Who is untrustworthy.

My loyalties lie with those
I Am working with in the
Trenches, except for those
Who should not be there.
The ‘protected untrustworthy’.

Even when you trust that you
‘Know’ the truth, it’s not always
Easy to trust your weathered
Instincts regarding what to do
About that truth and trust.

Life is complicated while being
‘Rewarding’, ‘fun’, ‘challenging’
And forever (for far too many)
Laced with drama and deception.

Always follow your instincts.
Trust those you care about the
Most and communicate with the
Best, for the loose-lipped need
While the tight-lipped are worthy
Of your trust. However, all trust
Has it’s limits, and must be
Constantly earned. Trust me on that. 2014
