Truth Poem by Nichole Marie

Truth

Eyeshades wisk the truth away
With dull lips now stained of shine
And hair sculpted to the perfect mold
As I look upon you from the outside.

I wish I could tell you you're beautiful
And I would if you'd ever believe.
If only you could see the beauty in you
That is so clear to me

Alone you shred yourself away
In body and in spirit
Tears hide behind your made up eyes
As I look upon you from the inside

I wish I could tell you you're wonderful
And I would if you'd ever believe
If only you could see the wonder in you
That is so clear to me.

Freedom, laughter, happiness
Love, fulfillment, and terror
Emotion, meaning, and everything
As I look upon what you mean to me.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
These are the lyrics I wrote for one of my best friends. She's one of the most amazing people I've ever met, but she's so self-conscious and she doesn't see how amazing she really is.
This poem is really meant for all of any girls out there who think she isn't amazing exactly the way she is... Because to someone, she's absolutely perfect, and she doesn't need to be someone she isn't to be loved.
