Truth Poem by Marcus Cosgrove

Truth

The latest one on trial is the man of some god
and one of his buddies just slipped him the nod
He's as guilty as sin like the previous pariah
But they're making a footballer the next new messiah

Believe what you hear, you're making the deal
Taking what they say and making it real

They print what they want and they poison your hearts
They taint all your soul and as your reason departs
You believe every word because why should you doubt
After all bending the truth is what it's all about

Believe what you hear, you're making the deal
Taking what they say and making it real

They are shaping your lives with their take on the news
and with a spin of a coin, they are warping your views
never pick a fight with those who buy ink by the barrel
and lie with their smiles, while they look for the quarrel

Believe what you hear, you're making the deal
Taking what they say and making it real

The more dramatic the better, it's what brings in the cash
never mind who they ruin, whose lives that they trash
the truths unimportant, the truth will not out
and when your rep is in tatters what do you shout about

Believe what you hear, you're making the deal
Taking what they say and making it real

A printed retraction is that all that its worth
and the sales that they got, while dishing the dirt
never mind how many they wound and they hurt
How untrue what they say and the views they assert

Believe what you hear, you're making the deal
Taking what they say and making it real

They are shaping your life definitely but truth impacts more in life. Truth is eternal witness. Beautiful poem.
