Happiness is a warmth
Excitement is an energising power
Love is a joyful ache
A feeling of deep connection
A desire to be close in mind and body
Affection is a warmth inside
That swells when I see them
These emotions I find easy to show
My smile comes so easily
I wish it was these that defined me

Sadness is like a painful weight
Sometimes a twinge I can ignore
Other times agony reaching to my core
Loneliness is a feeling of true isolation
A longing so strong it actually hurts
Dread comes with the sense of helplessness
Knowing the upset that is to come
The damage I cannot escape from
Apathy is an exhausting nothing
The desire to stop is then all I can feel
When in the shadow of these
Look into my eyes and you can see
For they show the pain within me
