Tug Of War Poem by Felicity Slaughter

Tug Of War

It wasn't this hard last time
Last time I just walked away
Away from a life I never had
This is the life I never had.

I can't just walk away.

I'm always the first to go
Wherever I go,

Always the first to be missed

Always the first to be abandoned

Never the last to be remembered

And I'm always the last to know
That I'm unhappy,

Unhappy that I cant be where I want to be

Unhappy that I'm right where I want to be

Unhappy that not everyone likes me

Unhappy that everyone loves me

Hopping from state to wretched state
City to damned city
It's not enough
It's too much
Can I just get some peace! ? !

It wasn't this hard last time
Never content in an eternal cycle.

Vicious.

'Let's pick up and go! '
I wish it was that easy.
It's never that easy.
But it's always that easy.

North and South tugging at my heart strings
I love them both
The question is:
Which one is going to give up first?
