Tunnel's End Poem by Erik Brandonfield

Tunnel's End

I can see the light at the tunnel's end
Venturing towards a new life, with a woman I once called on as friend

This tunnel is dark
but here and there we see sparks

They're grand and bright
and serve as guiding light

To allow us to make our way home

One step at a time
with her hand inside mine

We march towards a future that will be all our own

we fight to escape the darkness
I can feel the tunnel lengthen
I see your stubborn-heartedness
Will it matter if I fight, if I strengthen

The light is still there
But your self-destruction impedes progress
This life is not fair
Too painful, this torturous process

Love I never believed in
But then oh how i grieved when

I felt the pain in my heart, then I knew
This love for you, for my boo
It was true

I know we'll make it out of the dark
I can see the light at the tunnels end
I know I want to embark
With my lover, who I still call my best friend
