Turning The Tables Poem by Kate Lechoe

Turning The Tables

Rating: 5.0

A leader in the media revealing a flaw,
In the government or another official.
Citizens sigh in relief: ‘Hhaaa…! We are progressing.’
Before getting to the bottom of the flaw,
The tables have already been turned:
That leader now has a flaw!

They have made it to be a two-way traffic,
Hitting and being hit at the same time.
Why give the citizens a false hope?
This makes the younger generation to despise politics,
Or give them a bad picture to emulate.
When will a genuine leader arise?

A leader who stands for the truth,
Speaks of the injustices and unfairness,
Fights for the well being of the citizens,
Genuinely points out mistakes,
And accepts correction from others,
Is who we cry for.
Will there ever be even one?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Sick and tired of hearing politicians talk of corruption and other unethical issues and never ever giving the full information or even pursue the matter to the end.
