Twas Only A Dream Poem by Austin Morris

Twas Only A Dream

As Daybreak falls, you succumb to slumber
Wasting away as the world passes by
You lie utterly still, counting the numbers
But only, to the outside eye
For inside, you’re all but still
Lost in the works of your god-given mind

You seem to be lost; they’re testing your will
Now they’re charging ahead, your falling behind
You’re suddenly scared, you don’t know why
That look on your face you just can’t seem to hide
It’s just so hard to say Goodbye
You finally wake up, thoughts aside
Twas only a dream, nothing to fear
But for some reason, you shed a tear
