Twas The Night Before Christmas 2020 Style Poem by Rick Hicks

Twas The Night Before Christmas 2020 Style

Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the home

All the lights that were usually put up everywhere,

Not a creature was stirring, he was all alone;

Didn't matter this year, he just didn't care;

His children had long ago moved from the house;

And to make matters worse, so had his spouse;

Other years had never been this bad,

But COVID 19 even made Christmas sad;

He'd just settled in for another restless sleep;

He couldn't remember when his sleep had been deep.

Just as he was finally drifting off,

He heard something outside, not loud but soft.

With this interruption he knew rest was doomed,

And the night would now be filled with more gloom.

So with a deep sigh he got out of bed,

Crossed to the window, and lifted his head.

He looked back and forth but nothing could be seen;

Except the now falling snow making everything so clean.

He finally noticed some lights down the street,

Which came nearer to him, as if they should meet.

It was from these lights that a sound was arising;

And the closer they got the more it was surprising.

You see, this wasn't just some lights that flashed off and on;

There were singers shining them as they sang their songs.

Songs of Love, and Peace, and a Savior's Birth;

Perhaps the start of a new time of happiness on this old earth.

If this small group of people could sing in the snow and cold,

Just maybe the Greatest Story would continue to be told!

At this thought the man finally knew

For all the World's problems, a prayer would do.

So the next time that you feel down and out,

Lift up your face and give God a shout.

Thank him for always hearing our call,

And especially for giving us a Savior for All.

Well articuated and nicely brought forth in verse with rhythmic splendour. A beautiful creation......
