Two Dollars Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Two Dollars

Two dollars

Two dollars he spends to buy a package of cigarettes.
I wonder!

It must be ten dollars if tax paid and purchased
Legally

What is what?
Who gains and who loses?

I recall radio advertise:
"Money paid on secret cigarettes
Ends in guns
Buys bullets for crimes
And blood
Innocents, passersby…
The wrong time wrong place? "

He, a poor labourer
Speaks no language
Is in need
Cigarettes mean relief
Pain killers…

And who gains?
The makers like Rothmans?

I recall cigarettes that were rolled
Permitted by the laws of Tajik:
"Better use tobacco than using heroine! "

And who gains?
Who is right?

I wonder as wander
In the dark, and the light,
And grey!
