Two Hot Days Poem by Deanna Samuels

Two Hot Days

With months and months of chilly temperatures
and very few days of relief in between,
out of the blue (literally) -
yesterday and the day before
- hot weather,
weather so warm, the lightest of clothing needed.
Brought out the population in throngs,
relaxing, picnicking in the parks, joining street festivals,
eating out on sidewalk cafes - even sunbathing!
Many walking on the paths of Lake Ontario's edge
and for the very brave, a dip in its water!
Entertainment areas buzzing with attendees
and the countryside centers filled to capacity.

Far too hot to stay in a stuffy house or mall,
just too good to waste the day sitting inside.
It was out of the blue - two hot days.

But - as always - there was a price to pay!

Huge thunderstorms formed and swept across the region
late on the second day, bringing in its wake damage to
landscape and property.

Today, the day following those two unexpected hot days -
winter once again!
Cold and windy. Warm attire was worn once again.

The wonderful interlude of two days of warmth - gone.

A teasing taste of summer?
Yes, but it will come - though not quite yet!
