Two Possibilities, One Outcome Poem by Esther Williams

Two Possibilities, One Outcome

One foot either side of the line
Which way do I go? Will I be fine?
The pull, the push, the constant tether,
What I decide could haunt me forever.
Decisions, decisions, where will it end?
Maybe heartbreak! Maybe a friend!
My surroundings closing in, nothing is clear
Look at me know, can you see my fear?
My feelings are fighting, it's causing war,
My soul is fleeting, it's broke, it tore.
Will one option alter and waver,
Give up and let the other win my favour.
My mood undecided, reflecting the weather,
Please! Dear breeze, send me away as if light as a feather.
Can you ever really be sure?
Give up your heart and claim it's pure?
Eyes shut tight, you pick a path
While the winner boasts, chuckles and laughs
Will your bubble become a box?
Trapped and tied down with unbreakable locks.
This direction you've labelled it love,
Or did you just gravitate to the biggest shove?
