Two Shades Of The Poppy... Poem by Frank James Ryan Jr...fjr

Two Shades Of The Poppy...

Where poppies grow fertile
there's misunderstanding
'bout symbols, syringes
politics, withdrawal, and-
from the same root,
the flower of heroes
for our soldiers in arms
in protecting Gods World
and on the precipice of war
against Heresy and Heroin,
for our children's destinies,
our tomorrows pioneers
of all that there's left to do.

Poppies were never kissed
by Christ for euthanasia,
or for means of discharging
the practice of genocide,
by drug-lords as hungry
as Isis for Christians.

Heroin... can't eradicate
life's pain...masquerade,
inside the mind and mantra
of cold, silent rage,
as you twitch and you quaver,
in your search for more,
because your Brains' been washed
yet, it reeks of imbrue...
and Death, ever near and nascent.

Poppies, Sweet poppies,
symbols of soldiers,
heroes and veterans
of War and freedom;
red for each blood drop
they shed for our Lives
with pride and love
for God and Country.

Poppies, from the bowels
of the worst in mankind
symbols of life's weakness;
such bizarre paralleling,
and a strange oxymoron
.....of Life and Death
two shades of the poppy,
the red and the black,
the red of first draw,
the black of latter crust
