Ugly Marriage Poem by Katrina Lusk

Ugly Marriage

Marriage is beautiful when it's done in God's time.
For the young couple fresh out of school,
love was quite blind.
First came the baby,
then the diplomas they received.
The young bride came down the aisle,
wearing white and walking with scared feet.
The groom cried,
watching as her Daddy gave her away.
But their relationship wasn't pure,
for they were about to embark on a journey full of sin.
Those vows they once spoke were soon to be forgotten.
...
What is Love?
Love is patient and kind,
it is not self seeking.
Love keeps no record of wrongs,
and is not easily angered.
It always protects and trusts.
Love never fails...
What these two had was not Godly.
They both argued and kept their own record of wrongs.
The wife held such hostility she became selfish.
In an act of anger she lost respect;
not only for her husband, but for herself.
The young bride once dressed in white,
now walks around with a scarlet "A" burned into her heart.
It all started with an accusation,
that led to jealousy.
The jealousy became hostility.
Then she finally broke.
Realizing that what she once had wasn't love,
but instead a powerful hunger of lust.
She asked for forgiveness,
and the communication slowly grew back.
The couple needed direction,
so they reached out for the help of an outsider to listen in.
They didn't want an ugly marriage.
But instead to be able to walk through life,
led and drawn together by God.
...
He took off his blue sunglasses,
and she took off her pink ones.
Trading they became open to a bigger view.
Learning the true meaning behind "I love you."
