Unanswered Love Poem by John Powell

Unanswered Love

Don’t you see
I only want your approval
I claw and scratch
Peel myself away
Changing shapes for you
Still no closer to what you want
Attempts to please
Unabashed obsequiousness
Lies become real
Myself changing to another
Still you have no love for me
Tell me what you want
Tell me what to become
I cry for you
Tears of blood
Tears of me
Leaving myself behind
And you cast not a glance
You could never love me
Will never love me
Your son

John these are painful lines to read, but you do a brave job of revealing one of life's tragic circumstances. Sometimes those who we should have been able to count on the most are the ones who fail to come through. Thanks for sharing.
