Under Autumn Skies Poem by Harvey Horst

Under Autumn Skies

Rating: 0.5

I fell in love under the autumn skies
As I watched her dance in the midnight light
I watched my world change with open eyes
I fell in love under autumn skies

It was foolish the way that it had its start
Each drinking away our pain in a drafty old bar
Where every rooster had a hen
And only happy songs seemed to play

She seemed as if she had never been here before
As if, she had only ever loved one boy
Now that he was gone scene
It felt as if her eyes could shine now for me

Oh, I fell in love under the autumn skies
As she played along
With nothing but fake love in her eyes
As my heart rooted itself deeper under autumn skies

I spent what felt like the longest time
With her next to me
Lovingly entwined
As if, she really had loved me under the autumn skies

But, as with all things
It crumbled to the ground
And from the woman I loved
I never heard another sound

I fell in love under autumn skies
Oh, how foolish I was
To think her heart was mine
Should have played it smart
But it was worth it to lose my heart
To the one, I loved under autumn skies
