Unending Well Poem by Daniel Fivelsdal Wetaas

Unending Well

A sudden day
A crown descending
Upon the world
Took lives; unending

A single cough
Is all it took
Contagious man
The world was shook

Yet I still know
Of one pandemic
Far more lethal
And more systemic

And for this witchcraft
There is no cure
And once affected;
Immense allure

No man is safe
And no woman spared
A child contracts it
And through them; shared

A dog can get it
It is not immune
And if it shows symptoms;
You will follow soon

As close to magic
As man can get
It needs no contact
Yet still a threat

You cannot hide
In your living room
Your TV spreads it
If it shows its bloom

Just like a fever
It warms you up
Contagious oven
A coffee cup

Given to you
By one who cares
Across the table
And it repairs

Let me tell you
Of this disease
Know its name
And you shall know peace

A simple smile;
That is the core
Yet through it blooms
So many more
