Unguessed We Are Poem by ashok jadhav

Unguessed We Are

Unguessed we are by mirrors and by names,
By charts that measure what we seem to be;
No ledger holds the sum of private flames
That flicker on in quiet secrecy.
We pass as finished stories in the crowd,
While drafts within keep changing line by line;
Our truest vows are spoken not aloud,
Our deepest turns occur without a sign.
What strength survives, what tenderness we hide,
What losses teach us mercy, not despair—
These truths remain uncounted, undefined,
Like stars unseen behind the common air.
So let the world believe it knows us well:
Unguessed we are—and richer than they tell.
