Union Poem by Amy Serhienko

Union

No promises or vows,
no rings or commitment,
but bound just as tightly
by our heartstrings.

Slow and steady,
we merge our separate lives
day by peaceful day,
laying the foundation.

Adding layers,
learning daily details -
your brand of detergent,
my preferred toothpaste.

Planning ahead,
preparing for the fairy tale ending:
the one we both deserve,
and found where we neither would have looked.
