As I read one of my unpublished poems
And marveled at its beauty and perfection,
I also thought like the tens of editors
Who had politely rejected it:
'Could this unknown have written
Such a perfect poem? '
The Lesson
Submit gracefully
To the editor!
Leave imperfections
In your submission,
Forging the rare steak
That he may cook well
And add the spices
To his own taste!
