Unmasked Destiny Poem by Michel Antoine

Unmasked Destiny

To describe myself as melancholic;
Mellow in fires ablaze within,
To redeem myself in your eyes,
Like blue embers in gaze.
I feel the play is over now
The mask comes off. And now you'll see
Who I really am.
No hidden shadows align these eyes
They're all in bloom for you.
And warmth by the fire log by log
To sooth a frigid destiny without you.
Friends have come and gone-
Long ago and oh so far away they seem.
They play out poems of joy and laughter,
Now a mere fading memory for me.
I guess the times have changed
As I no longer run away.
A lasso in chains has taken over
My heart and soul
And has dulled the pain of happiness for me.
