Unreality Poem by Christina Nelmes

Unreality

Rating: 5.0

Sometimes I start to wonder.

About life and death,

Hopes and dreams,

The past,

the present,

The future.

And sometimes I get lost.

Lost in life,

Lost in thought,

Lost in a place where nothing matters.

Where there is no reality.

Where there are no lies.

No worries,

No wrong,

No regret.

But sometimes I forget myself.

I forget that it's not real.

A dream,

A figment,

A fantasy.

I merge this land with my life,

And my reality becomes unreal.

My thoughts take over.

They breed,

They wander,

They grow.

And soon I'm living in my own unreality.

The pain,

The tears,

The hatred.

They no longer exist.

But I don't stay for long,

Because they're what I miss the most.

Without them,

We are not human,

We are not real,

We are not alive.

And sometimes I visit this place again.

This wonderland that seems so great,

So happy,

So peaceful,

So calm.

Just to get away from it all.

But then I remind myself of what I'm missing,

And my thoughts carry me back home.

Back to where I belong.

Where I can laugh,

Where I can cry,

Where I can scream,

Over the stupid little things in life.

The things that make reality real.

And I live my life happily,

Knowing my unreality is still there.

Just waiting.

Waiting for my mind to wander in again.
