Unrequited Poem by Samantha Campbell

Unrequited

How My Pen Strokes
SOS his NAME

AND My smiles and laughter
I hold Within Just to Save
It For Him
When He Appears

Or That I Silently
Loose My Thoughts Despite
Writing This Poetry
As He Comes Into My Mind

Moments Frozen In Time
Sealed and Locked Forever

Not One Moment Will
He Experience as
Every Aspiration
Disappears
into the Air
of Non-Fiction

As I Measured Others Against Him
and To See He Was That
Flawed Flawlessness I Wished
To Attain and Fix and Mend
Anything Broken Within

He Will Never Know How Much
I Vividly Remember
Because I Pay Attention
To What He Says
and Things That He Does

Cause You Indented Your Ink
Into My Soul Before You
Became Tangible Despite
My Seeing You as Untouchable
Till I Touched You
and Wished TO Never Let Go

Even though I Had to

He Will Never KNOW
How I Daydreamed
In Poetic Verses as
He Became A Pre-Packaged Canvas
That Had The Clearest of Images
if You Looked at him in the right angle

Nor Will He Gain Insight
Past The Friendship Conjured Up
Between us Almost Automatically

Amazing To See Another One Getting Away
Butterflies Being Free
As I Remain A Grounded CATERPILLAR
Within an Outgrown Cocoon

Unable To Smell The Roses

HE Will Never Know
Id Share My Pen if
He Asked For It

The Value is The Same
Emotions Flying Due TO Him
In Clear Ink

Since What I Would Have Offered
Was Crystalline Un-Tainted

Never Will He See The Flicker In My
Eyes As I Hear Him

Teleporting
To And Fro
Wishing I Too
Was In His Thoughts

But I am just a friend

I wished for so much more
