Unspoken Apologies Poem by Alc Harris

Unspoken Apologies

Rating: 2.8

it wasn’t
a lack of care

more so fear
that held back

watching

for subtle suggestion

perhaps it was
the absence of armour
that drew eyes to feet
in an attempt
not to be noticed

or maybe the years
that nurtured distance
swelled into one moment
and left a doubting kiss
of uncertainty
upon those lips that now
paled with the tightness
of unspoken apologies

which ever

all that is left
is retrospect and
an emptiness
that had somehow, before, gone unnoticed
