Until Death Do Us Part Poem by amanda lathberry

Until Death Do Us Part

How many pills will I have to take
To numb my mind today
I swallow, swallow, swallow them down
Till they take my pain away
I take two or three
Then two or three more
Anything to just not feel
I'll do anything
To get them, you see
I'll lie
I'll cheat
I'll steal
It used to be fun
This habit I've got
But that was so long ago
I look in the mirror
And what do I see
A girl that I don't even know
Can I stop
Hell, I'm not really sure
They have a special place in my heart
It will probably be
My addiction and me
Until death do us part
