Until Then Poem by Robert Edgar Burns

Until Then

Friends arrived to say good-bye!
A fond farewell through tear stained eyes.
Memories flood and fill our minds,
Of thoughts of you in better times.

Always thought you first, of others.
Made everyone feel they were your brother.
Never slow to flash a smile,
But quick to listen for a while.

Serving all mankind was your fashion.
Loving too was your number one passion.
While serving others right from the start,
Love overflowed from your very large heart.

Our times on this Earth
Were merely stepping stones.
And we are waiting as you did
For our Father to call us home!

As those who love you slip away,
And realize on some future day,
We gathered not to say goodbye.
But We’ll see you soon,
When We touch the sky!

(a tribute written for my brother-in
law Dr. David Yates of Birmingham,
Alabama, a victim of Pancreatic Cancer)
