Until We Get There Poem by NSANG Rudolf NCHANJI

Until We Get There

We'll never leave this journey halfway.
We must be fine; just a matter of time.

Never had life been so kind,
war caressed peace out of our lands.
We are left with carcasses to show off,
bastard huts, with no families to house.

Justice is the sword we fight with,
History backs up the whole course.
Senseless war unobtrusively stepped in,
Bloodshed stains the holy lands of our fathers
We head indefatigably for what is just and due.
Just when the sun aims arrows of smile on my people,
Kleptomania and kleptocrats sign in.
We shall fight until Justness is born.

Peace is the prize we bet
If this bet be so unlucky,
We shall bet again, again, and again.
Until we arrive,
We shall not stop talking.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem was inspired by the ongoing Anglophone Crisis affecting the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon (2016 to present) . It sounds notes of hope and persistence by marginalized Anglophone minority in Cameroon who are now fighting for justice and equal rights. The Author, having experienced the conflict first hand as an Anglophone Cameroonian, suffered humiliations and decries injustice while inspiring the spirit of nonviolent persistent resistance to all forms of injustice.
