Untitled Poem by Dragos Balan

Untitled

Scarlet fire rained upon the earth
Cities erupted in chaos
We had a chance to redeem ourselves
But that chance minimized and shrunk
As our greed grew like wildfire
Destruction will soon be upon us
The apocalypse is near
An inferior species snuffed out, and no one will hear
Our small planet, that was once so rich with life
Succumbed to evil, succumbed to strife
The greedy destroyed the selfless
The evil slaughtered the pure
Blood ran black in the streets
All the colour leech out
By some self-serving parasite
Latching itself to everything
Our purity swallowed by our insecurities
Our hearts are defiled
Our minds are toxic
Our souls are twisted
Crumbling to pieces, disintegrating to dust
Abruptly our legacy ends
Our short story is done
There is no happy ending
This time evil has won
