Untitled Rap Poem by William McGehee

Untitled Rap

Sometimes I try to see God
But his face is ever lost to me.
In the world: Not of the world
I flounder in hypocrisy.

When it's kill or be killed
You live an eye for an eye.
Is there a path to peace
Through the choices I'm living by?

Ya know I'm told for everything there is a season,
But I can find no rhyme or reason
To run to God or side with Satan,
And condemn myself though spiritual treason.

But I know that justice is a virtue
And all forgiveness is divine
So I'll just play the cards I'm dealt
Till I reach the end of the line.

I'll work for the moment
When judgment day will come at last
‘Cause every sinner has a future
And every saint has had his past.
