Upon Awakening Poem by Rick Elpers

Upon Awakening

One day after independence
I find dependence
Upon God for everything
Even unlimited to thoughts
As without guidance
Meander from desire
To obligation
Causing deep recess awareness
That hurts the shallow life
I perpetrate to show the world
Many sides of persona
I believe to be me
Then the facade crumbles
Leaving a shell empty
Not interested in the things
Built up to involve myself
Giving purpose to an otherwise
Useless existence.
