Us Addictive Rhymers Poem by Francis Duggan

Us Addictive Rhymers

It is not an addiction the law sees as a crime
But nonetheless tis addictive this addiction to rhyme
So many penning stuff they cannot sell
I am not the only one who writes doggerel.

Still everyone have their own story to tell
And whether they write poorly or whether they write well
They too are entitled for to have their say
Though all cannot be poets or it does seem that way.

I wish that i could say enough is enough
But i feel compelled to keep penning more stuff
I have an addiction in that I'm not rare
But of my limitations i do feel aware.

I'm just one of the many who does not make the grade
Not seen as an asset to the wordsmith trade
From penning stuff I'll never know wealth or fame
But to try and not succeed should not be cause for shame.

Call it writers bug or call it what you may
Like millions of others i write every day
Us addictive rhymers are not a rare breed
We try though as writers we never succeed.
