Meredith Marie

i told you a secret,
and begged 'please dont tell.'
i told you a secret,
you chimed like a bell.

i told you i liked you,
i liked you a lot.
you said you liked me,
but it needed some thought.

i know now i was never an option,
you lied just to prevent tears.
for two months, that little lie
fueled my hopes, my dreams, my fears

you couldve just told me,
said 'i don't feel the same.'
because your lie
fueled my one little shame.

to you, there was never a fire,
never a flame.
there was never a something
my heart was your game.

you could've just told me.
i couldve taken it.
i couldnt take these past three months.
you couldve just told me.
