Vacation Anticipation

Planning done
vacation booked,
covid intervened.
Two years go by -
at last, all clear,
dates rebooked,
confirmation in.

The day has come
all cases packed.
Great anticipation,
luggage loaded
passports in pocket,
flights on time
a last look around.

Locked the doors
off we go,
through the country
taking time
to enjoy the view
of open scape
and village life.

Nearing city, onto 407
for ease of ride
to Departure level.
Joined airport clamor,
line-ups and security,
boarding gate wait then -
off to destination.

Another adventure begins.

Goodness, it was an Adventure!

Plans worked like clockwork,
air travel without hitch.
Pre-cruise hotel staff pleasant,
courteous, polite and attentive
going well beyond to help.

Joined cruise long boat
for perfect sailing,
great accommodation,
exemplary staff,
menus to die for and
wonderful views.

Informative town and city trips,
castles and mansions,
palaces and gardens,
vineyards and orchards.
magnificent public edifices,
glorious opera houses,
breathtaking and unbelievable
ornate houses of worship,
elaborate city squares,
statues of the famed.

Lively cafes, restaurants to delight
Shopping and souvenirs galore.
Renowned past composers,
their music still exquisite, compelling
cities bursting with life -
Europe at its best.

What an amazing adventure!
