Sweet Valentine look at our years of love
and ponder what a distance it has come.
Our love connects not as a cooing dove
but forms a hidden link that makes us one
Love walks with us and runs when we must run.
and joins our hands and hearts and makes us smile.
Love mends and warms when clouds preclude our sun:
when all around seems dark and not worthwhile,
love shines a light that turns our fears to laughter
and provokes and soothes in equal measure,
to live today, not for the ever after,
to raise our girls - love's eternal treasure.
