‘valentinus Amator' Poem by Trevor Valentine

‘valentinus Amator'

I was just pulling out the weeds in my garden. And these lines popped into my head, which I now share. It was written against all manner ofor RL miscreants and trolls, and of course, abusers of any kind.

My name is not Maximus Decimus Meridius
I am not commander of the Armies of the North
Or indeed of any army
I am no General of a Felix Legion
I have no emperor to be loyal to
I do not seek my vengeance
In this life or the next
For my name is Valentinus Amator
A protector
Of peace
And love
And harmony.

And though I am an army of but one
My one word is likely
To turn into a sentence
For you
Of destruction
Against your miscreant deeds
For you are
A scourge
A scoundrel
A wretch
Less than a scrape of turd
That would stick to my sandal
Only to be wiped away
And put in the trash
With the other detritus of life

But, if you be a sordid abuser
Of any unrelenting type
Beware
For although my name is
Valentinus Amator
I will have our vengeance
In this world only
For there is no next
For you.
