Valued! Poem by Doreenda Nikoi Kotei

Valued!

Be with people who cherish you,
Who understand your vision, your ambition and your dreams,
Friends who will rub off your rough edges and sharpen you to get to your destination,
Mentors who will monitor you so that you don't drift away from your focus,
Superiors that you can learn their experiences, failures and footprints,
Neighbours that won't be envious, backbite and jealous of your efforts and your achievements,
Peers who won't drag you behind and despirit you.
You're full of beautiful gifts, talents and greatness!
Let them know that you are valuable!

Work with people who appreciate your inputs,
Colleagues who are happy to have you on their team,
Teammates who will speak life into you to fight till win,
And are ready to go far with you,
Supervisors who can understand your sacrifices and are there to help you stand when you fall,
Bosses that can discern your strengths and flaws but focus on your positives and commend your commitments,
Never be in a group that suppresses and devalues you as if you don't matter.
You're anointed, amazing and awesome!
Let them know that you are precious!

Live in a family that accepts and honours you for who you are.
And not what you have or have not,
Parents who won't call you names: a useless and hopeless fellow,
And compare you unnecessarily with your peers,
Hammering on your mistakes, making you feel less of a human.
But be in a home where you can have your absolute peace of mind for your progress, growth and development,
An rejuvenating atmosphere that can fill you up physically, emotionally and spiritually,
Marry the one who has your best interest at heart and will do everything to see you excel and succeed.
Make time for relatives who acknowledges the little things you do for them and revere you as a hero,
Give ear to blessed words and not bitter words,
Never let anyone drain your spirit or make you seem worthless,
You're a miracle, marvelous and mighty!
Let them know that you you're priceless!
