The ancient vihara, vihara not
Mahavihara,
The Buddhist university,
Centre of education and excellence
Made in the vihara mode,
Gurukula pattern
With the abbot, guides, preceptors
And guards
At the gorgeous gates
Pillared well
And towering
And the short flight of steps
Taking to the vihara,
The halls
And the stupa,
The prayer hall
With the statue of Buddha,
Buddha as Avalokiteshvara,
Buddha,
Buddha in meditation
And the cells downwards
Housing the teachers and the disciples
With the cherished desire of
Getting educated at Vikramshila,
Vikramshial
The Mahavihara,
Buddhist vihara
Teaching it all,
All sciences,
Religion, philosophy, spirituality,
Meditation, herbal medicine,
Tantrism,
Hinduism and Buddhism.
