Violence Poem by Hans Raj Sharma

Violence

O’ my dear
Violence!
My DNA equal
I want you to see
At your destination
In present form
Hug you thereat
Red house farm
Hesitatingly-
Coming out
Of my slum.

O’ my dear
Violence!
My DNA equal
I’m ready
To surrender
Or to do any
Damn thing
For you
Damning
Myself into
Making you
Giggle and laugh
Laugh and smile
Smile to get light.

O’ my dear
Violence!
My DNA equal
I just want
To lie on the cot
Cot next to you
And then fall
Fall asleep
A sound sleep
Sleep beside you
Fearlessly care free
Where
There’s none
Other than you
You and me
To put aside
Protecting me.

O’ my dear
Violence!
My DNA equal
And then
Everything
Shall return to me
I’ll be able
To love my eyes
When you look
Into them
I’ll be able
To love myself
When you utter
My name
From your lips
I’ll be able
To love my heart
When you touch it
And love my life
When you’re in it
Non-violent
To put aside
Protecting me.

O’ my dear
Violence!
My DNA equal
Natural lights
And colours
Shall re-appear
In my eyes
Music
And sounds
Unchecked
Shall enter
Into the ears
Fresh air
Into my lungs
Sweetness
Shall return
To the tongue
And love
To my heart.

O’ my dear
Violence!
My DNA equal
Freedom
And liberty
Certainly
Shall dig up
To the soul
Of common man
Only when
You pick up from
Where you left off.
