There amidst the virgin forest
To an island in the lake
Sailed the warrior Standing Bear
Rippling Waters his bride to take
He had built their nuptial lodge
In the hope she would be his
He had traded many horses
Now her Father had accepted this
She felt pleased with his attention
Wanted him to be her mate
Yearned for the days and nights of passion
Longed to be in the motherhood state
High above an eagle soaring
Wingtips spread out like a fan
Heard the song of nature calling
Heard her voice softly call her man
In the warmth of their forest dwelling
Joined as one their limbs entwined
Lay the bodies of the lovers glistening
As if to keep their love confined
