Wedding Bells Poem by Dan McGonagle

Wedding Bells

Today is a very special day
As both of you start a new life
It begins with both of you single
And ends with a Husband and Wife

As the confetti settles
After the bouquet is thrown
A number of things will happen
Ere you start out on life on your own

The love of your friends and family
Will be given as a gift to you both
May it serve to bind you together
On the journey of life you go forth

Then you will hear many speeches
The thoughts and advice given you
No one can force you to take it
But it comes from the heart and its true

May your union bring you the blessings
That every marriage should bring
Among them should be patience and truth
With lots of understanding

May you always need one another
May your love be a beacon of light
Let it show you the way to a lifetime of peace
Let it make every day feel so right

May both of you share in that mystery
Which couples in love seem to share
The awareness of the other's soul
Even when the others not there

May you always praise each other
And no matter what else you may do
Ignore those minor little faults
Every day say 'I Love You'
