Vision Poem by Hans Raj Sharma

Vision

Praise-
Indubitably
Fogs the vision
As love blinds
Even the wise.

Divulges-
Repugnance
The face value
And powers
Can’t augment
Prestige
And expertise.

Whereas-
A tribute
Or genuine
Applause
Like a tonic
Endows with
Inspiration
And back-up
Similar as
Silent waters
Run deep.

Flattery-
The worst
Form of praise
Feeds with
Empty spoon
Head over heels
Overcooked
As mockery
Over flowing
Its banks.

Earshot-
Of true criticism
With patience
Unprovoked
Be it sharp
Or scathing
But, untouched
Confidence
And composure
Cultivating upbeat
And apt
Upset not
A steady mind
Not even attacks
If slightly
Standing firm
And straight
Like a rock
Pursuing
The noble cause.

Criticism-
Sharpens intellect
And broadens
One’s approach
Visually making
The things look
More beautiful
And striking
Prompting
Better vision
And understanding
Around the world.
