Voices - Poem by Jujutshu Kumar Deb
The cord quivers,
Flashes of anger wrinkle the face,
Inevitable death lurks,
Hoary voices lament the spent up energy.
Conchs, Kettledrums blow a jargon
Filling the heart with remorse,
Who is the hero, who is the villain,
Who is the valiant, who is the coward?
Voices, voices, voices,
There is no victory, there is no war,
A stir of voices weakened by baseless yearnings
Have you got any message from our Lord?
What has he imparted in the Gita?
Why do you tremble?
Where is the mark?
But yet the cord quivers,
Voices, voices, voices,
There is no victory, there is no war.
