It was a void
in the lives we lead.
ourselves.
maskless and brave,
we hid to hide the others
chosen by fate to cower.
we are masked now, replenished by fear.
chosen to be hidden by twisted hands
we are revealed to only those who hide among us.
only those with heavy hearts and locked eyes,
destroyed by a terrified blindness revealed in ourselves
can see the regret beneath the
stone visage
we wear so shallowly upon our features.
