Void Poem by Matthew Aben

Void

My hand against the window frame,
Face bent down for I cant keep my head high;
Cold air is all but welcomed into my body-
But I have no control, I want no control

The rain splashing off shingles
Meets my face to blend with wet eyes
And with nothing but silence and a empty night
I can’t help but feel a void.

For this night depicts me-
And I can’t help but feel this way-
Just as cold nostalgia persists.
It’s like taking a deep breath-
And on the exhale you feel a tug.

The wind cuts through me-
As rain meets my wet eyes
My lungs cling to the harsh air-
And my mind-
Like the night around me,
Kills me.
