Volare Poem by Grace Galeon

Volare

In the nights when you visit me in my dreams
You got me up and left me wondering in my sheets
Made up stories, just a figment is all it seems
Like reading a letter written in acronyms
But you always end up opening the doors of fantasy
Red wine, eyes closed and drunk in ecstasy
To see you more, I'll be in slumber like 'sleeping beauty'
Waking up facing the emptiness of reality

It's been so long since that day that even time has flown with open wings
From jar of hearts bursting with Red to simply a jar of empty things
The small hand keeps rotating, book pages flipping
Birds are singing, in the east, the sun is rising
Then a day goes by without you crossing my mind
The answer is obvious, all is left behind
Loving him was crazy but now that love is dead
Saying all that needs to be said before cutting the Red thread

I have dealt with the excruciating heart affliction
I'd rather experience having a broken bone
Piece by piece returning to myself again
The bright smile I have lost I now regained
Arms wide open, ready to face the days to come
Better, stronger, and wiser is the person I have become
And for the last time, I bid goodbye
Now I'll spread my wings and fly high
