Vote Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Vote

Vote

Then I was in quite young,
Meant to serve, day and night,
Ate my food at home but
Helped people from mosque,
Felt being good person
For nation, old and child
As well as my kids, wife.

Just before the voting
Came letter, ministry's:
"Elected you are to
Supervise the voting."

We were five, divided
The job to see, observe
That voting is done well.

I became group's head.

Slips were three parts
Green, Red, also white.

The first two were given
To the men and women
That arrived for voting.

Red meant "No, "
"Yes, " green

We had forced Khomeini
To accept note writing
Which would be secretly.

I managed boxes with
Boards cover by curtains
To make sure, be certain
That voters were free.

Few men, MAGA-likes
Took the votes and tore up
Gave green to voters…
