Waitin For Satan Poem by Don Subba

Waitin For Satan

The lies that I've told
Good deeds not done
The mercies not shone
Under a dead sun

I laughed at the warning
I kicked down the door
Now the floor knows my name
And it wants something more

Now come to haunt me
One by one
I hear them behind me
What have I done

Waitin' for Satan
Too late to atone
Waitin' for Satan
I'm alone, all alone

Waitin' for Satan
No place left to run
Waitin' for Satan
The count has begun

And now I stand all alone
By the stain on the wall
Every vow I went and broke
Comes back when I fall

The mirror keeps my secrets
Like a witness in stone
I keep callin' for mercy
But it echoes back cold

Now come to haunt me
One by one
I hear them behind me
What have I done

Waitin' for Satan
Too late to atone
Waitin' for Satan
I'm alone, all alone

Waitin' for Satan
No place left to run
Waitin' for Satan
The count has begun

If grace was a doorway
I shut it too soon
If light had a name
I buried it in gloom

Now the hour hand crawls
Like a blade on my skin
And the word in my chest
Won't let me in

Waitin' for Satan
Too late to atone
Waitin' for Satan
I'm alone, all alone

Waitin' for Satan
No place left to run
Waitin' for Satan
The count has begun

Waitin' for Satan
I'm done, I'm done
Waitin' for Satan
And here he comes
