Waiting Poem by Clyde King

Waiting

Rating: 5.0

Everybody is waiting for something.
Waiting on a paycheck,
waiting in line at the grocery store,
waiting in a doctor's office or in a hospital,
waiting on a phone call,
waiting on hold,
waiting for a cure,
waiting for a mate,
waiting on dinner,
waiting in a traffic jam,
waiting at a red light,
waiting for a bus, taxi, train, or airplane,
waiting to be waited upon,
waiting for an appointment,
waiting for death, which never waits on us.
You get the idea.
How many years do we waste waiting? I don't know,
but a real paradox is the expression
'Hurry up and wait.'
Truth is, most of the time we're waiting
for something that never happens,
so why get anxious about it?

I don't agree with last lines of poem, but at least it is 'published' & we get to leave comments. Though 'free', the 'new PH' sucks (s-u-c-k-s) BIG TIME! ! ! : (( BRI

Your paradox is explicit hurry up and wait.... that is what we all do. A very good poetry. Actually we all need to learn to vwait.
