Walk Like A Man Poem by NurViktoria Ellen

Walk Like A Man

WALK LIKE A MAN

You say you love me to excess, but
you don’t walk on air
like a man possessed
with the flair and superhuman strength
of the love-obsessed.
You say you love me like a king, but
your ego won’t grow wings
of pride and super-confidence
spanning centuries.
Why did you dropp that silly grin
oozing bliss from every pore
whenever someone said my name?
When did you lose that youthful spring
in your step that would ignore
all the potholes in your way?
Why is your manly chest so full
of lead instead of a hero’s zest for life
with me?
Why is your eagle-eye so dull
with grief and disbelief when you’ve seen the light
in me?
How come the world can bring you down
with its duty call to pursue the trivial?
Why does your heart sink with a frown
when you should be ten feet tall?
You say you love me, that you are
the self-confessed
keeper of my darkest secrets. So why don’t you
walk like a man
blessed?
